Ladera Ranch Personal Injury Lawyer

Ladera Ranch is a master-planned community of 26,170 people (2020 Census) in the foothills of South Orange County. Building began in 1999 on part of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo cattle ranch, and today the community is organized into villages such as Oak Knoll, Flintridge, Township, Avendale, Terramor and Covenant Hills. It has no city government. Ladera Ranch is unincorporated county land, bordered by Mission Viejo to the west, Las Flores to the north and Rancho Mission Viejo to the south.

If you or your child was hurt here, a Ladera Ranch personal injury lawyer can help you get the right report, deal with insurers and track deadlines. Our Lake Forest office at 22600 Lambert Street is about 7 miles away in a straight line.

Ladera Ranch Roads and What the Crash Data Shows

The community is built along Antonio Parkway and Crown Valley Parkway, with Oso Parkway and the 241 Toll Road nearby. In 2021, the Oso Parkway Bridge opened a direct six-lane connection between the 241 and Los Patrones Parkway, with bike lanes and a sidewalk, replacing a signal-controlled ramp route.

Orange County Public Works publishes collision data for county roads. We reviewed 2021 through 2025, counting crashes reported within 100 feet of each intersection:

  • Antonio Pkwy at Crown Valley Pkwy: 27 collisions, 11 people injured. Rear-end (10) and broadside (9) crashes were most common, and unsafe speed was the most frequently cited cause (9).
  • Crown Valley Pkwy at O’Neill Dr: 17 collisions, 8 people injured. Running a red light was the most frequently cited cause (6).
  • Crown Valley Pkwy at Cecil Pasture Rd: 15 collisions, 8 people injured.

We also looked at a map rectangle around the whole community, which also catches edges of Las Flores and Rancho Mission Viejo. From 2021 through 2025, the county data lists 469 collisions there, with 218 people injured and 1 killed. About 1 in 4 (114) were single vehicles hitting a fixed object such as a curb, pole or wall. Unreported crashes aren’t included.

Bike and E-Bike Crashes in Ladera Ranch

Ladera Ranch’s own guidance says e-bikes are “more popular than ever.” In the same area data, 31 collisions involved a bicycle, and 30 people were injured in them from 2021 through 2025. Many happened on neighborhood streets such as Sienna Parkway, O’Neill Drive and Daisy Street. The most frequently cited cause was a bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the road (8). Other cited causes included failing to yield when leaving a driveway (7) and at a stop sign (3). The county data doesn’t separate e-bikes from regular bicycles.

Rules that apply here, according to the County of Orange and the Ladera Ranch Maintenance Corporation (LARMAC):

  • Helmets are required for riders under 18. Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16, and all Class 3 riders must wear a helmet.
  • E-bikes may not go over 10 mph on paved trails or 5 mph on sidewalks, and riding against traffic on the road is prohibited.
  • E-bikes are banned on LARMAC parks, fields, greenbelts, pool decks and courts, on the West Ridge Trail and on the East Loop of the Ladera Ranch Trail (east of Antonio).

If your child was hurt, a rule violation doesn’t automatically end a claim. California’s comparative negligence rules reduce, rather than bar, recovery when an injured person shares some fault. Read more about e-bike accident liability in Orange County and our bicycle accident lawyer page.

Who Takes the Crash Report in Ladera Ranch

LARMAC notes that most streets and sidewalks in Ladera Ranch are under county jurisdiction and patrolled by the California Highway Patrol. The CHP’s Capistrano Area office covers the unincorporated county roads in Ladera Ranch, plus I-5 and State Routes 73, 74, 133 and 241.

  • CHP Capistrano Area: 32951 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675. Phone (949) 670-7030. Open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Orange County Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line: (949) 770-6011. Call 911 in an emergency.

LARMAC’s private security patrols only LARMAC property and doesn’t replace a police report.

To get a copy of a CHP report, a driver, passenger, bicyclist, pedestrian, vehicle owner, parent of a minor or legal representative can use the CHP Crash Portal or submit form CHP 190 in person or by mail. The fee is $10 for 1 to 25 pages.

Rady Children’s Hospital at Mission operates on the same campus. Its free “Save the Brain” program gives helmets to kids ages 2 to 17.

Cases We Handle for Ladera Ranch Families

Courts and Deadlines

Orange County Superior Court hears limited and unlimited civil cases at the Central Justice Center, 700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana. Most injury lawsuits must be filed within two years. If a public agency may share responsibility, for example for a county road or trail, a written claim usually must be presented within six months. See the statute of limitations for car accidents in California.

Your Accident Doesn’t Have to Be Major to Matter

A parking-lot bump at Mercantile or an e-bike spill at a stop sign can still mean a concussion or a broken wrist. No case is too small to call.

Ladera Ranch Injury FAQs

Who responds to a crash on Antonio Parkway or Crown Valley Parkway?

Inside Ladera Ranch, these are county roads, and the CHP Capistrano Area office handles traffic collisions. A crash just outside Ladera Ranch, such as in neighboring Mission Viejo, may be handled by a different agency.

My teenager was hurt on an e-bike. Do we have a claim if he wasn’t wearing a helmet?

Possibly. The other party’s fault still matters. Not wearing a helmet may reduce the amount recovered, especially for head injuries, but it doesn’t automatically bar a claim. Get advice before talking to the other driver’s insurer.

Is a report from Ladera Ranch’s private security enough?

No. LARMAC’s security patrols only community property. For a crash on a public road, call 911 or the CHP so an official report is made.

What does it cost to talk to you?

The consultation is free, and we’re available 24/7.
