La Quinta Personal Injury Lawyer

La Quinta, Spanish for “the country estate,” grew from Walter Morgan’s 1926 La Quinta Resort, a hideaway for Hollywood stars at the foot of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The resort built the Coachella Valley’s first golf course, around the same time Highway 111 was paved in the 1930s. The city incorporated in 1982 and had 37,558 residents in the 2020 Census. About 23% of residents speak Spanish at home, according to American Community Survey estimates.

We serve La Quinta clients from our Riverside office and have no office in the valley. Call or text in English or Spanish whenever you need us. Lea esta página en español.

Snowbird Season on the Roads

Seasonal residents from across California, the Northwest, the Midwest and Canada add an estimated 20 to 50 percent to La Quinta’s population from November to April. That means more traffic on the main routes in and out:

  • Washington Street and Jefferson Street, the city’s two exits from Interstate 10. Washington Street’s expansion in the 1950s and 1960s first tied La Quinta to the old US 60 and 99, now I-10.
  • Highway 111, the valley’s main surface street, along the city’s commercial strip.
  • The Village, the downtown district, and the La Quinta Civic Center Park, home of the yearly La Quinta Art Celebration.

Golfers, cyclists, delivery trucks and landscaping crews share these roads. Older drivers, out-of-town visitors and resort traffic all add to the mix.

The Sheriff and the CHP

La Quinta doesn’t have its own police force. It contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, through the Thermal Station at 86625 Airport Boulevard, Thermal, which also serves the city of Coachella and the unincorporated eastern valley. Ask the station how to request your traffic collision report.

On I-10 and on state highways outside city streets, the CHP Indio Area office, 79650 Varner Road, Indio, (760) 772-5300, usually handles the report.

Emergency Care

  • JFK Memorial Hospital, 47111 Monroe Street, Indio: 24/7 emergency care, Level IV trauma center.
  • Eisenhower Health, Rancho Mirage: Level IV trauma center.
  • Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs: the valley’s only Level I trauma center.
