Banning Personal Injury Lawyer

Banning sits in the San Gorgonio Pass, so often called the Banning Pass that the two names are used interchangeably. The town was first named Moore City, then renamed within months for Phineas Banning, the stagecoach owner known as the “Father of the Port of Los Angeles.” It had 29,505 residents in the 2020 Census, and about 31% of residents speak Spanish at home, according to American Community Survey estimates.

Our Riverside office serves Banning clients. Call or text whenever you need us, in English or Spanish. Lea esta página en español.

Roads Through Town

  • Interstate 10 runs straight through Banning and is the main route between Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley. The pass is one of the windiest places in the country, and trucks crowd the grade. Read our I-10 San Gorgonio Pass crash guide.
  • Ramsey Street is an old section of US 99 and still carries local traffic parallel to the freeway.
  • State Route 243 starts in Banning and climbs south to Idyllwild and Mountain Center. It’s a steep, curving mountain road popular with motorcyclists. See our motorcycle accident lawyer page.

Banning borders the Morongo Indian Reservation, home to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, which has its own tribal police. If you were hurt on reservation land, tell us; different rules can apply.

Who Takes the Report

  • Banning Police Department, 125 E. Ramsey Street. Banning has had its own police force since shortly after it incorporated in 1913. Contact the Records unit to request your traffic collision report.
  • CHP San Gorgonio Pass Area, 195 Highland Springs Avenue, Beaumont, (951) 846-5300, handles I-10 and state highways around Banning. The office opened in Banning in 1964 at 1735 East Ramsey Street before moving to Beaumont in 1996. CHP reports cost $10 for 1 to 25 pages.

Hospital in Town

San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning is a general acute care hospital with emergency services. For major trauma, patients may be taken to a trauma center farther away.
