Garden Grove Personal Injury Lawyer

Garden Grove was founded by Alonzo Cook in 1874 and grew up as a farm town known for oranges, walnuts, chili peppers and later strawberries. It became a city on June 18, 1956, with about 44,000 people. By the 2020 Census it had 171,949 residents. Census estimates for 2023 show that about 29% of residents age 5 and older speak Spanish at home.

Our Fountain Valley office on Brookhurst Street is about 6 miles away in a straight line. If you were hurt here, a Garden Grove personal injury lawyer can help you get the police report, answer the insurance company and keep your claim on schedule.

The Garden Grove Freeway and the Old Main Road

State Route 22, the Garden Grove Freeway, opened in 1967. Before the freeway, Route 22 ran along Garden Grove Boulevard, once called Ocean Avenue. For decades the freeway was never widened. Then OCTA used Measure M funds to add a regular lane and a carpool lane in each direction, plus rebuilt ramps, in a design-build project finished in 2007. A second phase added carpool connectors at the I-605 and I-405 junctions in 2014.

The 22 and Garden Grove Boulevard still carry much of the cross-town traffic. Off the freeway, OCTA runs 15 bus routes with 269 stops in Garden Grove, so many people walk to and from the bus. That means a lot of people on foot along busy streets.

Harbor Boulevard and Festival Crowds

Two of Garden Grove’s largest employers, Great Wolf Lodge Southern California and the Hyatt Regency Orange County, are hotels on Harbor Boulevard in the north part of the city. OCTA plans to end the OC Streetcar line at the Harbor Transit Center at Harbor Boulevard and Westminster Avenue.

Every Memorial Day weekend, the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival fills the city with an estimated 250,000 visitors. Heavy crowds mean more people crossing streets and more crowded parking lots. If you’re hurt at a hotel, festival or other business, the property owner’s insurance may be involved. See premises liability in Orange County.

CHP reports can be requested online or with form CHP 190, and cost $10 for 1 to 25 pages.

Stanton is in the middle. The West Garden Grove neighborhood sits west of Beach Boulevard and is mostly separated from the rest of the city by Stanton. A crash on a Stanton street is a different city’s case, so check the location before you call for a report.

Garden Grove Injury FAQs

How soon can I get my Garden Grove police collision report?

Garden Grove Police ask you to wait at least 21 days after the crash before requesting it. Processing can take up to 10 more business days.

I was hit on the 22. Which CHP office has my report?

It could be the Westminster Area or the Santa Ana Area office, because both patrol SR-22. Your incident number helps either office find it.

I live in West Garden Grove, but the crash was in Stanton. Does Garden Grove Police have it?

Probably not. Stanton is a separate city. The agency that responded to the crash location has the report, not the one for your home address.

I was hurt at a hotel near Harbor Boulevard. Is that an injury case?

It can be, if an unsafe condition or someone’s carelessness caused the injury. Photos of the scene and an incident report from the hotel help.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. There’s no charge to talk with us.
