La Habra Personal Injury Lawyer
La Habra takes its name from an old spelling of la abra, Spanish for “the opening.” It incorporated on January 20, 1925, with about 3,000 people. Today it’s a city of 63,097 (2020 Census) in the far northwest corner of Orange County, with a median age of 37.5. About 38% of residents speak Spanish at home, according to American Community Survey estimates.
La Habra sits right on the Los Angeles County line, and that shapes who responds to a crash and where a case may be filed. A La Habra personal injury lawyer can help you sort that out. Our Fountain Valley office is about 17 miles away. Lea esta página en español.
No Freeways, Three State Highways
La Habra has no freeway inside city limits. Instead, three state highways run on its surface streets:
- SR-39, which follows Beach Boulevard and part of Whittier Boulevard
- SR-72, along Whittier Boulevard
- SR-90, along Imperial Highway
Those, plus Harbor Boulevard, are the city’s four main roads. Euclid Street, Idaho Street and Palm Street carry north-south traffic, while La Habra Boulevard and Lambert Road run east-west. State highway traffic on streets lined with driveways, signals and crosswalks leaves drivers little room for error. If you were hit while walking, see our pedestrian accident lawyer page.
When the road itself is part of the problem, such as a missing signal, worn striping or a damaged surface, the agency that maintains it matters. On a state highway that may be Caltrans rather than the city, and a claim against a public agency has a short deadline.
An Orange County City With LA County Neighbors
La Habra borders La Habra Heights, Whittier, East Whittier, La Mirada and unincorporated land in Los Angeles County, plus Brea and Fullerton in Orange County. It even contracts with the Los Angeles County Fire Department for fire and paramedic service.
So a crash a few blocks north or west may fall under a different police agency and, if a lawsuit is needed, a different county’s court. Write down the exact location, or drop a pin on your phone, before you leave the scene.

La Habra Injury FAQs
I crashed on Whittier Boulevard near the county line. Who has the report?
It depends on exactly where. Inside La Habra, usually La Habra Police. A short distance away in Whittier or La Habra Heights, it could be a Los Angeles County agency. The officer’s card or report number tells you which.
Imperial Highway is a state highway. Does that change anything?
For most crashes, no: the case is against the driver who caused it. It matters if the road’s condition contributed, because Caltrans may be responsible for that part of the road and claims against public agencies have short deadlines.
How do I get a copy of my La Habra police report?
