A large share of the city’s land is the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. In 1962 the city opened Leisure World, one of the first age-restricted communities in the United States for people over 55. The 2020 Census median age was 60.8, and about 43% of residents were 65 or older.

Pacific Coast Highway, Main Street and the Pier

Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1) and Main Street meet at a busy commercial corner near Old Town. That intersection sees shoppers, beach visitors and through traffic. The Seal Beach Pier, one of California’s longer wooden piers, draws walkers and anglers. Seal Beach Boulevard is the main north-south route inland toward the 405 and Los Alamitos.

Older drivers and pedestrians are a regular part of local traffic, especially near Leisure World and Old Town. If you were hit while walking, see our pedestrian accident lawyer page. Bike and e-bike crashes near the pier and the beach path may fit our bicycle accident page.
