Palm Springs Personal Injury Lawyer

Palm Springs had 44,575 residents in the 2020 Census, but that number doesn’t describe winter here. As a retirement town and snowbird destination, the city’s population roughly triples between November and March. More visitors means more rental cars, more people walking downtown at night and more drivers who don’t know the streets.

Palm Springs is also unusual on a map. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians reservation was laid out in 1876 in a checkerboard of alternating square-mile sections, and about 6,700 acres of it sit inside city limits. Where a crash happens can affect who investigates it and which rules apply.

Tafreshi Law Group serves injured people in Palm Springs from our Riverside office. We don’t have an office in the Coachella Valley, but you can reach us by phone or text at any hour, in English or Spanish. Lea esta página en español.

Wind, Sand and Closed Roads

The north end of the city sits at the mouth of the San Gorgonio Pass, one of the windiest places in the country. In May 2026, blowing sand and near-zero visibility shut North Indian Canyon Drive between Sunrise Parkway and Garnet Avenue, and North Gene Autry Trail at the wash, according to the Desert Sun. Both roads link Palm Springs to Interstate 10 and Desert Hot Springs.

If you crashed in blowing sand, write down the time and take photos of the visibility, signs and barricades. Whether a road should have been closed sooner can matter to your claim.

Highway 111 Through Town

Highway 111 ends at I-10 at the city’s northwest corner. Coming into town, it becomes the one-way pair of Indian Canyon Drive (northbound) and Palm Canyon Drive (southbound), with Business 111 running through the busy downtown. Visitors on foot, valet stands, ride pickups and unfamiliar drivers share those blocks. See our Highway 111 crash guide and our pedestrian accident lawyer page.
